Background Information

In May, 2019, St. John teacher and staff coordinator of SJCHS Relay For Life David Peters will travel to Nepal to run the Tenzing-Hillary Mount Everest Marathon.

"The World's Highest Marathon" is a 42km race from the Base Camp of Mount Everest to the Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar.  The race is held annually on May 29th to commemorate the anniversary of the first successful summit of the world's tallest mountain.

The purpose of the expedition is to:

1. Raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society.

2. Challenge students to set a fundraising record for the 2019 SJCHS Relay For Life.

3. Raise awareness of Relay For Life and the fight against cancer.

4. Celebrate the accomplishments of St. John Catholic High School in the battle against cancer.
